What Is The Box?
by John Bensch

Editor of The Studio Newsletter

The box is the place in this newsletter where any Studio artists (or teachers) can write about and have published whatever is important to them. It can be a serious or funny story. Know a good joke?

You can write about real life. You can even write a CD review or movie review. Or a poem.
Make your submission 50 words or so and give it to John. It will get printed.

A group of Studio artists performed with handmade puppets on the first day of the Arcata Puppet Festival Week, at 1 pm on Saturday, November 1st at the Farmer’s Market on the plaza in Arcata.  Betty Kuhnel, Jaimal Guynn, Allen Cassidy and Dawn Wentworth constructed the puppets from scratch and used them for the festival. The inventive puppets included a cleaver welding chef, a witch riding a broomstick and a cow.

Studio puppeteers Allen Cassidy and Jaimal Guynn were also in a “Puppet Feast” at Redwood Raks in the Old Creamery Building in Arcata on Friday, Nov. 7th. The puppet feast started with dinner at 7 pm and the puppeteers performance at 8

They also performed at the adult experimental performances featured at Muddy’s Hot Cup in Arcata on Saturday, Nov. 8th at 8 pm.
On Sunday, Nov. 9th Cassidy and Guynn played in a children’s show at the Blue Ox in Eureka at 2 pm and a show at the Arcata Playhouse at 4.
