A CHILD’S VOICE

by Cicely Ames

A child’s voice, innocent and sweet,
whispering beyond the trees,
lingering beyond the clouds.
A child’s voice, laughing and singing
with happiness and joy.
A child’s voice, not afraid
to say what’s on their mind.
A child’s voice, soft, loud,
and obnoxious, at times.
A child’s voice, crying with tears of fear,
screaming out.
A child’s voice with a heart of gold
strung through a mother and father’s heart.
