THE STUDIO HOSTS FABRIC/SEWING WORKSHOP

Studio teacher Jamie Walsh taught a group of Studio artists how to create sculpture out of fabric. Artists cut and sewed fabric, created abstract wall hangings. See more photos on the Studio's Facebook page. (link above)

 

STUDIO ARTISTS HAVE JAM SESSION

On Tuesday, March 23rd, Studio teacher Melissa Medina held the first Music Workshop at the Studio. Studio artists practiced rhythmic skills and played guitar and electronic keyboards. To see more pictures of this class use the Facebook link above.

 

VIDEO WORKSHOP IMPROVISES STAND UP COMEDY

The Hands On Video Workshop took a break from it's usual production schedule to throw an improvised mock Komedy Klub on March 23rd and 25th.  The artists-turned-comedians used an amplified microphone to tell jokes and make fun of life at The Studio.   There was also a DJ, who triggered laugh sound tracks at the appropriate times. Not that they were needed; the audience of fellow comedians were cracking up at the jokes and funny observations.

GUEST ARTIST ASHLEY HUDSON HOSTS PAPER MAKING WORKSHOP

On Thursday, March 11, guest artist Ashley Hudson hosted a paper making workshop. Ben Driggs, The Studio’s sculpture teacher, assisted her.
Ashley and Ben demonstrated to Studio artists how paper trash can be turned into usable paper for art projects. Studio artists in the workshop made their own paper by turning waste paper into pulp, which was then pressed flat.

STUDIO ARTISTS BOWL FOR BIG BROTHERS, BIG SISTERS

Several Studio artists and teachers were part of ”Bowl For Kid’s Sake” at their first Big Brothers Big Sister’s annual fund-raiser on Saturday, March 6 at Harbor Lanes in Eureka. The Tie Dye Tigers were able to raise $1000 to benefit local kids. Following their name, the team wore tie dyed T-Shirts.
This year’s theme was from The Sixties, “Feeling Groovy - Peace, Love, Rock-N-Bowl!”
