Artist Bio

Artist Betty KuhnelBetty Kuhnel

Betty Kuhnel claimed she liked making art because "It's relaxing." Anyone who saw her at work or witnessed the prolific amount of art she produced since joining The Studio in 2004 will agree, Betty was in love with the process. A dedicated visionary artist, with an unmistakable style, Betty exuded a zest for life and an appreciation for living in the moment that is present throughout her work. Her still life subjects range from "The Still Life of Prunes" to "The Still Life of Blue Cheese Dressings" and her food sculptures are often hilariously huge. Betty's work appeals to a wide audience and has been collected and displayed at Lukes Joint, a local restaraunt, as well as The Peoria Emporium, a Manhattan boutique. Betty was recently featured in "Small Stores", a coffee table book showcasing the display items of small stores around the world. Betty's Banquet and The Collected Works, Betty's solo shows in The Cheri Blackerby Gallery, were both highly successful and well received. The Collected Works represented almost a decade of artwork in the life of this incredible visionary artist.
